PHILLY CHEESESTEAK SLOPPY JOES

by

These Philly Cheesesteak Sloppy Joes will quickly become a family favorite! They combine the best of two worlds: the flavorings and cheesy goodness of a Philly Cheesesteak with the ease, economy and sauciness of Sloppy Joes.

Philly Cheesesteak Sloppy Joes are pure comfort food, and easy to make with flavors reminiscent of a cheesesteak sandwich. Ready to serve in just 30 minutes, this Sloppy Joe Philly Cheesesteak Recipe is bound to become a weeknight favorite.

Ingredients

1 lb lean ground beef

1 yellow onion finely diced

1 green pepper chopped

½ teaspoon salt

1 tablespoon cornstarch

1 cup beef broth

¼ cup A.1. Sauce

1 teaspoon steak seasoning

sliced provolone cheese

hamburger buns, sliders, etc.

How To Make Philly Cheese Steak Sloppy Joes

In a skillet pan, over medium-high heat, cook and crumble the ground beef, onion, green pepper, and salt until beef is no longer pink. Drain.

Stir the cornstarch into the ground beef and mix together until the meat is coated in the cornstarch. Add the beef broth, A-1 sauce, and steak seasoning. Stir together and bring to a boil.

Once boiling, reduce heat to medium-low and let it simmer, while stirring occasionally, for 10 minutes. Mixture should thicken up and will thicken up more once it’s off the heat.

While meat is simmering, set the oven to broil, and place the buns on a cookie sheet. Butter each bun. Broil for just a few minutes. Watch carefully as they can burn easily.

When the meat is done use a slotted spoon to scoop it out onto each bottom bun. Place a slice of provolone cheese on the top bun. Broil for a few more minutes until cheese is melted.

Place the top bun with the cheese on top of the bottom bun with the philly cheesesteak meat. Eat warm!

Notes

Nutrition information is for ⅙ of the meat, one slice of provolone cheese, and one hamburger bun.If you are using slider buns or feeding lots of little kids then this recipe easily serves 8 sloppy joes. I highly recommend toasting the buns! If you don’t have the time or just don’t want to, simply serve the sloppy joe meat in a hamburger bun and eat it as is. Still yummy!I know I will get comments saying that these are not real, true, or authentic Philly Cheesesteaks. Yes, I know. They are meant to be a fast, family-friendly, budget-friendly version of the original.

Apple Zucchini Bread

by

Ingredients:

Ingredient Quantity

Granulated sugar 1 cup

Brown sugar 1 cup

Large eggs 4

Canola oil ½ cup

Vanilla extract 1 ½ teaspoons

All-purpose flour 3 ½ cups

Baking soda 1 ½ teaspoons

Salt 1 teaspoon

Ground cinnamon 3 teaspoons

Ground nutmeg ½ teaspoon

Shredded zucchini 2 heaping cups

Finely diced apple 1 ½ cups

Instructions:

Preheat Oven & Prepare Pans: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease two standard loaf pans (e.g., 9×5 inches) with butter or cooking spray. Set them aside.

Combine Wet Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the 1 cup granulated sugar, 1 cup brown sugar, 4 large eggs, ½ cup canola oil, and 1 ½ teaspoons vanilla extract. Whisk until the mixture is light, smooth, and fluffy.

Combine Dry Ingredients: In a separate medium-sized bowl, sift together the 3 ½ cups all-purpose flour, 1 ½ teaspoons baking soda, 1 teaspoon salt, 3 teaspoons ground cinnamon, and ½ teaspoon ground nutmeg. Sifting helps to combine them evenly and prevents lumps.

Mix Wet and Dry: Gradually add the dry ingredients mixture to the wet mixture in the large bowl. Stir gently with a spoon or spatula until just combined. Be careful not to overmix the batter, as this can lead to a tough bread.

Fold in Zucchini and Apple: Gently fold in the 2 heaping cups shredded zucchini and 1 ½ cups finely diced apple into the batter. Mix just enough to ensure they are evenly distributed throughout the batter.

Fill Pans & Bake: Divide the batter evenly between the two prepared loaf pans. Bake for 35 minutes. At this point, loosely cover the tops of the loaves with aluminum foil to prevent them from browning too much. Continue baking for another 20–25 minutes, or until a wooden skewer or toothpick inserted into the center of a loaf comes out clean.

Cool: Let the loaves cool in their pans for 10 minutes on a wire rack. After 10 minutes, carefully remove the loaves from the pans and transfer them directly to the wire rack to cool completely before slicing and serving.

Enjoy this deliciously moist and fragrant Apple Zucchini Bread!

Ingredients and tools:

Before we delve into the tantalizing details of cooking these foil-wrapped wonders, let’s gather our ingredients and tools. Here’s what you’ll need:

Ingredients Tools

Desired number of potatoes Slow cooker

Olive oil Aluminum foil

Salt Fork

Instructions:

Now that we have our essentials ready, let’s embark on the journey to creating the perfect baked potatoes. Follow these simple steps:

Clean and Prep: Start by thoroughly cleaning and drying the potatoes. Remove any eyes or imperfections you come across. For optimal cooking, use a fork to poke holes all around each potato. This step ensures even cooking and prevents any unwanted potato explosions.

Season to Perfection: Lightly coat each potato with olive oil, ensuring they are well-covered. Then, sprinkle salt over the oiled potatoes to your preferred level of saltiness. This step not only adds flavor but also helps create a crispy skin.

Wrap in Foil: Take a piece of aluminum foil large enough to wrap each potato completely. Place a potato in the center and wrap it tightly in the foil. Repeat this process for all your potatoes. The foil helps lock in moisture and heat, resulting in a tender interior.

Crock Pot Magic: Place the foil-wrapped potatoes in your slow cooker. Set the cooker on low and let them cook for 7-8 hours. If you’re in a hurry, you can opt for the high setting and cook for 4-5 hours. The slow cooking process ensures the potatoes become incredibly soft and delicious.

Serve and Garnish: When your foil-wrapped potatoes are soft and ready, it’s time to serve them up. Garnish to your heart’s content – think cheese, sour cream, crispy bacon, chives, or any other favorite toppings. This is where you can get creative and tailor each potato to your liking.

Enjoy the Elevated Experience: With this method, baked potatoes transform into an effortless and gourmet treat. The combination of slow cooking and foil wrapping elevates the flavors and textures, making every bite a delightful experience.

Cinnamon Sugar Elephant Ears

by

These Cinnamon Sugar Elephant Ears are a wonderfully quick and easy take on a classic fairground treat. With flaky puff pastry, warm cinnamon, and a sweet, caramelized sugar coating, they’re an irresistible dessert or snack that you can make with just a few simple ingredients.

Ingredients:

Ingredient Quantity

Puff pastry, thawed 1 package (2 sheets)

Granulated sugar 1 cup

Ground cinnamon 2 tablespoons

Unsalted butter, melted ¼ cup

Instructions:

Preheat & Prep: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line two baking sheets with parchment paper.

Make Cinnamon Sugar: In a small bowl, mix together the 1 cup granulated sugar and 2 tablespoons ground cinnamon until they are well combined.

Prepare First Pastry Sheet: Unfold one sheet of the thawed puff pastry onto a lightly floured surface. Roll it out into a rectangle, approximately 1/8 inch thick. Brush the entire surface of the pastry with some of the melted butter, then sprinkle generously with half of the cinnamon sugar mixture, pressing it lightly into the pastry.

Roll the Pastry: Starting from one of the long sides, tightly roll the pastry towards the center. Repeat this with the other long side until both rolls meet in the middle, creating a double-rolled log.

Slice & Arrange: Using a sharp knife, slice the rolled pastry log into 1/2-inch thick pieces. Place these slices, cut-side up, on one of the prepared baking sheets, leaving about 2 inches of space between each piece to allow for expansion.

Repeat & Bake: Repeat the process with the second sheet of puff pastry. Place both baking sheets in the preheated oven and bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the pastries are puffed up, golden brown, and crispy.

Cool & Serve: Remove from the oven and let them cool slightly on the baking sheets. The cinnamon sugar will be very hot. Serve warm and enjoy!
